So I was washing out a mug in the kitchen after band practice. The Chef was in a corner making little human heads out of clay. The Poet was reading a book and drinking a pot of coffee. The Fonz was drawing his infamous cartoon entitled “Twinkie In A Thong” on the community whiteboard for all to see.
In other words, it was just another normal, fairly mundane night in the life of Lauren.
I chatted with the kitchen crew for a little bit, then went back to my room and checked my email.
I was astonished to discover that I am the monthly Featured Blogger on 20 Something Bloggers.
I knew that Allison had nominated me and that people were voting for me, but it blows my mind that I won and am now featured on the homepage. I mean, it still amazes me that people other than my mother willingly read all of my weird, often rambling posts. Seventy-one people have even clicked the "follow" button. You have no idea how baffling that is.
Anyway, I am definitely feeling rather loved by the blogosphere tonight. When I got into blogging, I don't think I expected people to actually read the stuff I wrote. I am thankful for all the readers who have jumped onto this crazy "lauren vs. reality" bandwagon. Thank you for being awesome. Thanks for putting up with my late night word vomit, for leaving me encouraging comments, for becoming my friends. This blog definitely wouldn't be the same without you guys, so...thanks for the love. You guys freaking rock.
I'm probably starting to sound like a Hallmark card, so I will wrap this up.
I think it's my bed time anyway.
And so I shall say this: Peace out, my amigos. Keep on rockin in the free world.
(More interesting post to come, as usual.)

It's Karaoke Time, Kids!
As promised, I have something extra special planned for today. Brace yourselves, kids. This is going to be good.
Remember that karaoke blog ring I participated in last month? Well, it's happening this month too and I got sucked into it again.
The theme this time is show tunes. Epic, right?
I have the privilege of posting a video from Bianca over at Bianca and the B-sides.
Before I post the video, I should apologize to everyone who has visited my blog today in search of fun karaoke and found a post about Leonard Cohen instead. Sometimes I operate in my own time zone. It's an unfortunate trait.
But without further ado, I give you...the fabulous Bianca!

"Hey everyone, it's Bianca (or, should I say, "The Mistress of Murderer's Row!")!! YAY for karaoke!!
I won't carry on too much in this introduction, considering I babbled on for two minutes prior to my riveting performance. But trust me, the babbling is probably the high point of the video, given my incredible lack of vocal performance skills. The other disclaimer is that my webcam is a piece o' crap, and sometimes the words don't go with my mouth. But again, that may actually be an improvement. Ahem.
Much thanks to Lauren for being an awesome host!"
See? I told you this was going to be epic.
If you want to have nightmares forever, head over to Ash's blog to see my lovely contribution to the karaoke ring. I'm not particularly proud of it, but not all videos can be "Another Night Another Dream." I kinda left it to the last minute and ended up sneaking into the attic to have a candlelit poetry reading with my hippy friends last night instead of working on it. So that's my excuse. My video sucks because I blew it off to read Sylvia Plath aloud in a dark creepy attic.
I am baffled by my life sometimes.
But I digress. Many thanks to Rishita for organizing this madness. And thanks to everyone for tuning in (and for being patient with my lack of timeliness).
Over and out, comrades.

A Brief Karaoke Interlude
So today I was hanging out over at 20sb today and ended up joining a 90s-themed karaoke blog ring.
What does this mean, you ask?
It means you get to watch a fabulous drunk guy singing "Stay" by Lisa Loeb.
The fabulous drunk guy is none other than Matt from Normally I Wouldn't Say This, But... Matt, you are a 90s karaoke champion.
Of course, there's a horrific 90s karaoke video of me floating around the Internet as a result of this blog ring. It's completely terrifying (as any good 90s karaoke video should be) and is posted up over at Sara Swears A Lot. Sara organized all of this madness and was nice enough to let me into the ring at the last minute. She's also got a list up of everyone involved in this blog ring so that you can watch all sorts of lovely 90s karaoke videos. There are some truly fantastic ones.
Anyway, that's all I've got. I will return to the regularly scheduled programming tomorrow.

So Ready To Blow This Popcorn Stand Foreva, Foo
A few days ago, I joined a cool site called 20 Something Bloggers. Yesterday I was cruising around the forums and found myself in a group devoted to indie music. Someone on the forum had posted that they were about to graduate from college and travel the country with their band for a couple of months. Whoa, that's exactly what Ryan and I are doing, I thought to myself. That's so cool that someone else is doing that too. Then I looked at the post again and realized that Ryan wrote it. He got a 20SB account when I wasn't looking. It's a small Internet after all.
Ryan put a new post on his blog last night that terrified me for a minute until I read the whole thing. Then it made me grin. I called him and we spent a good hour babbling on about all things rock tour related. The conversation ended with us proclaiming that this summer will be completely "ROCK-EFFING-TASTIC!" I got off the phone and stared at my map for a bit before I fell asleep.
I am so bored with my life right now. I do not allow myself to get bored very often, but right now I feel like I'm stuck in a bunch of ruts. It's not that my life is bad right now, it's just that I'm ready to do something entirely different.
Some people get really depressed over the whole graduation thing. They feel like their life is ending or something. I don't get it. I feel like my life is just beginning. If my life was a film, everything that has happened up until this point could be covered through a expositional dialogue (or perhaps a montage) in the first 15 pages or so of the script. I haven't even fully broken into Act Two yet. I've still got the whole movie ahead of me.
(Hi, I'm a scriptwriting nerd. Can you tell? :D)
I'm not really sure what I'm going to do today. Last time I checked, it was sunny out. I think I'll put on my springtime bohemian attire, go for a long drive, end up in a place where no one knows my name, and write for hours while drinking over-priced coffee.
